The protective circuit breaker with double interruption has standardised narrow dimensions and a quenching chamber region for each interrupting position. The light arc moving parts form a circular arc path from the interrupting positions along the outer walls on the narrow sides, while being connected conductively to the outer quenching baffles. These parts guide both light arcs into the quenching chamber, when the contact bridge moves. When the latter has reached its maximum breaking path, the two inner quenching baffles are contacted by the bridge with the result that the light arc bottom points have a direct transition to the baffles. The contact points between the bridge and the baffles are preferably outside the zone of the light arc bottom points.
