The propulsion system comprises a hinged flap mounted on the lower end of a pole. The pole, which is pivoted centrally on a horizontal axis, projects beneath the boat. The top end forms a handle for manual operation. For a power-stroke, the flap is in line with the pole, creating thrust. During the return stroke, the flap pivots, permitting movement through the water without resistance. Applications may involve any number of flaps, possibly mounted inside casings in the boat hull, and capable of rapid fitting and removal.
