Zusammenfassung:	Method of decorating an article of transparent plastic material e.g. a table lamp is carried out by directing a pulsating laser beam onto the article to be decorated having internal stress during laser discharge and having physical properties characteristic of certain material such as crystalline character. The laser beam is successively focussed on different points within the article, and the duration and energy of the pulses are selected according to the dimensions of the desired decorative elements. Pref. a ruby laser is used with pulses of 100-300 mu secs. and with a focussing lens having a focal length of 100-200 mm. The laser beam may be directed perpendicularly to the plane surface and in the median line of a cylinder made of "Plexiglas" (RTM) having a dia. of 35-80 mm. and a length of 85-205 mm.
