Zusammenfassung:Ethylene oligomers are prepd. by the oligomerisation of ethylene in satd. hydrocarbons at 80-250 degrees C, pref. 150-200 degrees C, and at 35-250 kp/cm2 press., in the presence of a catalyst comprising the reaction prod. of metallic Al with an incompletely chlorinated satd. by hydrocarbon and nickel acetyl acetonate in a wt. ratio of 1:0.1-10:0.007-0.1, pref. 1:0.4-50:0.01-0.03, in satd. hydrocarbons. Catalyst components are storage-stable and easily tran transportable. The oligomers have an ave. mol. wt. of 30-300 and are suitable in the prepn. of detergents, hydroxy-alcohols, motor oil and lubricants. The oligomers are obtd. in high yields in opt. continuous processes.
