Zusammenfassung: | Powdered material is added to a molten metal with a carrier gas stream, through a metal tube. Tube has a sealed free and which melts on immersing the tube in the molten metal. After completing addn. of the powdered material, the press. of the carrier gas stream is reduced to the ferrostatic press of the molten metal. Process may be used in prodn. of pig iron, steel and nonferrous metals. E.g. Mg, Ca and calcined soda are added to refine melts. Ce, Mg and Ca-Si modify graphite structure in iron, etc. Process allows intermittent addn. of powdered material to the molten metal. Press. reduction interrupts continuous carrier gas supply to molten metal receiver and prevents clogging of pipes by powdery material. |
