Zusammenfassung:The back-spacing unit esp. for typewriter with a spherical typing head has an operating lever (4) with a locking unit which releasably holds the lever in a position in which the head is moved backwards by up to one type space, preferably around half a type space. The locking unit is formed by a stop edge (7) for the lever on a part attached to the machine frame. The lock may comprise e.g. a tongue and groove combination on the edge of a slit (10) in the machine housing through which projects the operating lever. Use of the unit enables a missing letter to be typed between two previously typed symbols.
