Zusammenfassung:	A butterfly valve has a valve plate (5) that hinges about an axis (6). At the valve plate position, the valve housing has an internal location groove for an inflatable seal ring (15). A flexible protective skin (3) covers the inside of the valve housing and also the inflatable seal ring. When the valve plate (5) has reached the closing position, a small gap remains between its edge and the flexible cover (3). By hydraulically or pneumatically inflating the seal ring (15), the gap is closed so that the valve plate provides a leakproof seal.
