Powered typewriter comprising of two separable assemblies - upper assembly contains printing mechanism and lower assembly the keyboard

A printing axle is mounted in the upper machine housing and is releasably and actively coupled with drive wheels in the lower machine housing by means of a bevel gear mounted in the upper assembly and an equalisation shaft which is dependent on the typing width. One or more shift rails are located in the upper housing which are releasably connected with the lower housing by tie rods. The band roller lever mechanism is also releasably coupled to the lower housing by coupling rods. The use of a two-part constructional design enables, for example, typewriter carriages of different width to the attached as required to the lower machine housing which incorporates the keyboard and other operating functions.
