Swimming aid including stiff flap - which forms side pocket to provide water resistance fitted to gaiter

This swimming aid is fitted to a gaiter like cuff (5) which can be fitted to the lower legs close to the ankles. A band passes beneath the foot to provide a safer hold. On the outer side of the gaiter (5) is linked a flap (1) whose axis is across the direction of motion during swimming approximately 3 to 5 cm above the ankle. Between the rigid flap and the gaiter is a flexible surface (3). This flap (1) opens out to form, with the flexible surface (3) a pocket when the feet are pushed back closing against the ankles when the feet are drawn forwards. This aid gives the swimmer greater power in the water and does not hinder movement when the swimmer is walking on land.
