The frozen food is stored inside a container (1) during the thawing process and is thereby protected against outside influences such as flies, domestic animals, dust etc. The frozen food is placed on to a central floor (7) which lies inclined at an angle of about 10 degrees, and which is fitted with ribs (8) about 10 - 20 mm high so that the frozen food lies clear and air can circulate around it. At the lowest point of the central floor (7) there are bores (9) to allow any liq. arising from the thawing process to run off.
