Spiral and hypoid bevel gear cutter head - has setting gauge with reduced setting time after sharpening

The spiral or hypoid bevel gear cutter head accepts master form gauging corresponding to cutter setting, for roughing and finishing, replacing setting with respect to a pair of initially positioned cutters. The two sets of cutters are raked, clearanced and adjusted to the cutter head radius (R) on which a pin (23) receives master forms (24, 25). Outer cutters (6) with edges (14) identifying with a form (24). Inner cutters (7) with edges (15) identify with a form (25). Both angled forms establish a cutter point width (M). Cutter points are dial test indicated to a setting plane, and adjusted to this plane when top rake sharpening.
