Accumulator plates prodn by filling porous sheath with slurry - with high liquid content filtered by sheath, for simplicity

In the prodn. of armour plates, esp. for accumulators, by introducing an active compsn. contg. liquid into the porous sheath of the plate when the sheath is placed on the current-carrying element of the plate, an alkaline active compsn. is used with a liq. content so high that the active matl. is filtered out by the porous sheath, whilst liq. penetrates its walls. The process is simpler than the usual multistage process and eliminates the problems associated with handling a dry powder.
