Zusammenfassung:The edges of the hinged covers of the car body have flanged shapes to press against each other in a collision displacement. An angled bracket (2) is fixed on one flange and is locked by a servo (7) operated bolt (8) when the engine is running. The other flange fits into a slot made by the servo support (3) and an internal flange. Several servo bolts secure each hinged cover and hold the flanges together for added crash resistance. This reduces damage and enables the covers to be prised open after a collision.
