Electrical plate condensers with few coatings - and dielectric layers based on lacquers e.g. polystyrene, polycarbonates, etc

The condensers are of the type where a coating is vaporised onto a carrier sheet and a lacquer sheet in dissolved form is deposited as dielectric, the carrier sheet then being incorporated in the condenser. In the mfr. of these plate condensers, the carrier sheet coated with vaporised metal passes over a roller which is briefly immersed in a lacquering chamber directly underneath the roller. After the carrier sheet is wetted with the lacquer soln., it is raised such that the film of lacquer is not torn off. During the lacquering, the carrier sheet is held under tensile stress which is produced by a reversible stretching of the carrier sheet accompanied by a reversible smoothing out of curves or folds in the sheet. This strees is removed after the lacquer soln. has dried. Very thin or very thick lacquer sheets may be deposited with no variation in thickness.
