Zusammenfassung:Sorting or sepn. of waste paper from an inhomogeneous compsn., comprises transporting the waste paper from a collecting station, e.g. a bunker, by means of a conveyor, e.g. a belt conveyor, to and through a disintegrator e.g. a cutting mill, to produce pieces of paper of equal size. The disintegrated paper is then passed in succession through first and second air classifiers e.g. zig-zag wind sifters. In this way the waste paper is opened up and agglomerates are broken up, so that the disintegrated paper can be separated into heavy and light fractions. The heavy fraction is pressed and transported, or transported directly without pressing by a pneumatic conveyor to the prepn. plant of a waste paper processing factory. The light fraction is of lower value and rich in illustrated material, newsprint and similar printed paper. High quality waste paper obtd. may be used to reduce the use of native fibres, e.g. cellulose or wood pulp.
