Zusammenfassung:Process for mass transfer between gases and liquids in counter-current flow in which the liuid flows from the first contact stage to the nth (n>=2) by gravity uses the kinetic energy of the liquid entering the first stage to induce a vacuum in the next stage and so draw gas into the gas inlet branch on the nth stage. This is achieved by passing the liquid through a nozzle to produce a narrow jet and using the ejector principle. 5-20% of the liquid leaving the nth stage can be taken, its velocity raised and its kinetic energy. Then used to produce a pressure in the gas inlet to the nth stage and thus push it through the column. For use on gas/liquid contacting esp. for absorption into liquids or desorption from them. Simple liquid contact devices using the ejector principle are known. the system described extends the advantages associated with them to counter-current operation. Main advantage is that only one stream used be pumped.
