Relief printing unit for flat packaging material - has movable carriage with pressure roller on end of arm above type

The relief printing unit for paper, cardboard, plastics foil and thin metal sheet such as used in packaging has a pressure roller (17) mounted on the end of an arm (76) of a carriage which can be moved along two guide bars (63) so that the roller passes over the printing station. The distance between the roller (17) and the top of the printing type (14') is less than the thickness of the material which is to be printed. The type characters project above a support surface (42) for the material and are releasably housed in one or more rows in a type holder (13') which can be adjusted vertically relative to the support surface. All four corners of the holder rest on screws (39) located in a base plate (11), and the holder can be held firmly in its selected position by a mounting screw (43). The guide (18) for the movable carriage is attached to the base plate (11).
