Zusammenfassung:1500536 Orthodontic &c. devices K A I CASSIMALLY 25 April 1975 [13 May 1974] 17312/75 Headings A5R and A5X An orthodontic device for infants for use as an exerciser, pacifier or a milk supply nipple comprises a bulbous tip portion 20, typically a hollow one, Fig. 1 for insertion into mouth, a base 24 big enough to prevent its insertion in the mouth and at least two connecting members 22 defining between the base and the tip portion, a space which allows movement of the tongue therein. Interior 28 of the member 20 is vented by providing at least one fluid passageway 30, Fig. 3. The interior may also be filled with a spongy material. Typically the connecting members define a through aperture 44. Alternatively, they are connected by a thin membrane. In a modified device, Fig. 4 (not shown) the lip portion has a curved top portion conforming to the shape of the palate whereas the lower portion is relatively flat for contact with the tongue. Also the upper portion of the base 24 is curved to provide firm contact with the upper lip. The base 24, a ring holder 36, and a ring 26 may be of relatively rigid plastics as compared to the tip portion and the connecting members. Preferably the connecting members are joined by a bridging portion 54 spaced from the tip portion. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7 a rim (94), Fig. 5 (not shown) of a chamber 90 is provided for connection with a milk bottle, channels 92 supplying milk to the interior 88 of a tip portion 80 having an orifice 86.
