High-rise automated warehouse - has assemblies of vertical compartment rows forming cages for lifting mechanism

The warehouse is for the storage of palletised loads, and comprises assemblies each consisting of four vertical rows of compartments of rectangular section forming the cage of the independent assembly. Each assembly comprises two opposite vertical rows of single compartments, and two others of double compartments. Thus the common backbones of the rows form the cage of the assembly in which the lifting mechanism is situated. The set of compartments thus forms one or more horizontal rows of assemblies, supported on the sidewalls of the single-compartment rows, and the centres of the cages lie on a straight line.
