Zusammenfassung:The mechanical strength of foam moulding compsns. is improved by incorporating into the reaction mixt. for producing the plastic prior to polymn. or polycondensn. and decompsn. of the blowing agent, a uniformly dispersed reinforcing agent comprising vegetable, mineral or synthetic fibres, partic. glass fibres pref. 6-25 mm esp. 6 mm long. The moulding have improved rigidity and crush resistance. Compsns. are used for prodn. of structural elements, specif. underground containers (for hydrocarbons), laminated panels, cores and construction modules. The plastics may be polyesters, partic. mixed with water, polyethers, polyamides, epoxy, furan or phenolic resins or similar materials.
