Zusammenfassung:1507315 Coated belts SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 20 March 1975 [20 March 1974 (2) 31 Jan 1975] 11602/75 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B3 and B8] A mould belt 2 for use in a continuous casting machine comprises a steel strip coated by plasma spraying with particles of a ceramic material to form a layer having a resistivity of 10-4 to 10-3 m2.h. ‹C/KCal, the ceramic material consisting of Al 2 O 3 , CaZrO 3 , MgZrO 3 , ZrSiO 4 or a mixture of Al 2 O 3 with TiO 2 or MgO. Preferably the porous coating surface thereby produced is milledto a uniform surface smoothness and has a top discontinuous layer of: polyphenylene disulphide, polybenzimidazole, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyimide or silicone resins; at least one of finely divided graphite ZrSiO 4 , hexagonal boron nitride, talc, or chemically bonded aluminium; or carborundum; or colloidal material such as graphite, Mg(OH) 2 , or eleotrophoretically applied SiO 2 . The ceramic layer is formed on the outside of a water cooled belt so as to be in contact with molten aluminium 1 in a continuous casting machine (Fig. 1).
