Zusammenfassung:	Appts. for the prodn. of coatings on metal strip in vacuum, comprises a metallising chamber contng. evaporators and heating elements, plus a device for feeding the strip into the chamber, this feeding device consisting of two tensioning rollers mounted on at least one trolley moving along the metallising chamber on guides between two end locations; at one end location, one of the tensioning rollers is in a coiling chamber on one side of the metallising chamber, while the other tensioning roller is at the max. distance from a second coiling chamber located on the other side of the metallising chamber, and at least one vacuum seal is provided for the alternate sealing of the metallising chamber from one of the coiling chambers while a coil is replaced in the latter chamber. Thick metal deposits can be obtd. e.g. 30-100 mu of Cr or Al on steel strip.
