Zusammenfassung:	To obtain the best piston ring/cylinder wall oil film conditions, the piston ring is free to pivot, during the operation cycle, relative to the piston body. An annular ring (27) may be machined to stand proud in one wall of the piston ring groove towards the outer diameter, to provide a pivot, or an annular projection may be formed integrally with the piston ring. Alternatively a distinct annular ring may be set into the wall of the piston ring groove. The projections on the ring or groove wall may have flat or pointed tips, and there may be more than one such projection.
