Binocular body with variable viewing angle - is of compact length with adjustment for eye base of user

The viewing angle is varied by swivelling the body relative to the viewer and means are provided to prevent image rotation. Each eye is provided with a telescope comprising an ocular tube with reflecting prism, a housing with elements to deflect the light from the viewer, and an objective in a mount. Each housing is coupled to the ocular tube and objective mount by a rotating gear so that when the housing rotates by a given angle about the axis of the light from the viewer, the ocular tube rotates by the same angle relative to the housing and by twice this angle relative to the viewer. The two objective mounts are adjustable along the axis of the light entering the housing.
