1512001 Advancing mine roof supports DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd 17 April 1975 [19 Jan 1974] 02628/74 Heading E1P In a mine roof support comprising a floorengaging member 1, Fig. 2, a canopy 2 having a pair of parallel opposed edges extending in the direction of advance of the support and an extensible strut or struts 4, one said edge of the canopy is provided with one or more pivotal flaps 25 and means 29 for angularly urging each flap about its pivotal axis. The support is also provided with a pivotal cantilever extension and connecting means between floor members and an I-section beam to maintain constant floor spacing and accommodate floor uneveness, see Figs. 6, 7 and 8, (not shown), for details. In a modification, Fig. 11, the support is provided with a side screen 91 overlapping a side screen 89, an adjustable side screen 92 overlapping a side screen 88 and a hydraulically actuated flap 102. A hydraulic control circuit for the flaps is described with reference to Fig. 9 (not shown).
