Compsn. for regulating gastrointestinal enzymes and having cardiovascular analeptic activity contains an acylated anilinobutyric acid of formula (I) (R1-R5=H, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, halo or CF3; R3 can alos be OH or PhCH20; Y= is not >6C alkyl or cycloalky or opt. substd. is not >16C aryl; Z=H or an equiv. of a salt-forming cation). Pref. cpds. have R1-R5=1-2C alkyl or alkoxy, Cl or CF3;R3 may also be OH or PhCH2O; Y=1-2c alkyl or phenyl opt. substd. by Cl; Z=H or an equiv. of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Al, glucosamine, N-methylglucosamine, mono-di-or-tri-ethanolamine or ethylenediamine.
