Wire made of copper braid - with terminals for mechanical and electrical connections has end splayed out into flat contact laminae

The ends (3) of the braided copper wires (1) are compressed and are provided with contact surfaces (4); these surfaces are of large area and may be interleaved, so that alternate laminae from the two braided copper wires (1) are adjacent to each other. There is a hole (5) through the laminae of the terminal (3) to permit the insertion of a bolt, and a nut on the bolt may be tightened to clamp the laminae together, giving a good contact with the circuit which is used for feeding the brush (2). The two braided copper wires may be covered with insulating material, and their ends are in direct contact with the brush.
