Eliminating monomer from PVC dispersions - by withdrawing steam and monomer at definite evaporation rate and temperature
Unchanged vinyl chloride monomer is eliminated from aqs. dispersions of PVC by withdrawing steam and monomer at an evaporation rate of 0.006-0.2, esp. 0.05-0.2 kg per kg PVC per min. for 3-60 mins. from the dispersion, which is heated to 80-100 degrees C, either by indirect heating and/or by the int...

Zusammenfassung: | Unchanged vinyl chloride monomer is eliminated from aqs. dispersions of PVC by withdrawing steam and monomer at an evaporation rate of 0.006-0.2, esp. 0.05-0.2 kg per kg PVC per min. for 3-60 mins. from the dispersion, which is heated to 80-100 degrees C, either by indirect heating and/or by the introduction of steam. Economic elimination and recovery of vinyl chloride monomer is possible. The treated dispersion contains less than 50 p.p.m. monomer, and can be safely handled. The PVC is suitable for use in food packages. |
