Zusammenfassung:1476339 Gettering cathode-ray tube UNION CARBIDE CORP. 11 June 1974 [12 June 1973] 25761/74 Heading H1D A getter assembly for mounting in a cathode ray tube in abutting relationship with a wall 17 of the tube comprises a support 18 for receiving getter material, a resilient elongate arm 15 secured to the support 18 for urging the support towards the wall of the tube upon insertion of the assembly therein, and a base member 19 secured to the support and comprising at least two laterally spaced apart elongate portions 20 and 21a of small cross-sectional area for contacting the wall of the tube and maintaining the support in spaced relationship therewith, each base portion 20, 21 being arranged to extend in the direction of insertion of the assembly into the tube to provide minimal areas of contact with the tube wall for ease of slidable movement along the tube wall during insertion into or removal of the getter assembly from the tube. The channel ring container 22 is welded to a support wire 19 having ends 20 and 21 bent away from the arm 15 in contrast to the construction describedin Specification 1,274,289 in which the ends are-bent towards the arm 15 as shown by the dotted lines. The construction prevents getter assemblies becoming tangled together prior to insertion in their respective tubes. A flattened central portion of wire 19 is welded to a mounting bar 24 which is welded to the arm 15 and has an end portion 33 bent upwardly. In a modified construction (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) the container 18 has a raised solid central portion.
