Moving vehicle radar system - eliminates close echoes by comparison with time-variant reference voltage

The instrument is for measuring the distance or relative velocity of an object observed from a moving vehicle operating on the radar principle with effective suppression of reflections from very close objects. The close object suppression unit incorporates a function generator controlled by the pulse timer giving a falling voltage-time characteristic and comparator which compares the function generator output and the receiver signal and gives a signal to the evaluation stage when the amplitude of the receiver output signal is greater than the momentary amplitude of the time function signal.
