Refuse compactor with ram and refuse container - has opening in ram for feeding refuse into container

The refuse compactor has a compacting ram which is moved by the drive into and out of the refuse container. The refuse is loaded into the container while the ram is still within the container. This ensures that the ram cannot trap a hand placed into the gap between the retracted ram and the container edge when loading the container. The box shaped ram has three actuating spindles driven by nuts from a motor with a belt pulley drive arrangement. The refuse is placed from above onto the ram whose underside aperture door opens when the ram is in the uppermost position. The ram door mechanism closes the droom automatically during its downward travel and opens the doors during its upwards travel.
