Pigment compsn. contg. a resin carrier - prepd. by condensation of cycloaliphatic ketone opt. together with formaldehyde

Pigment prepn. contains as a carrier a resin obtd. by condensation of cycloaliphatic ketones alone or together with formaldehyde. Specif. the ketone is cyclohexanone alone or together with methylcyclohexanone. Pref. the carrier has a softening pt. >70 degrees C. Mixts. of such carriers can be used. The ketone resins are well known commercial prods. Pigments which may be used include the usual inorganic and organic pigments, and the use of metal powders is also possible. The pigments content of the prepn. may range from 20-80 wt. % depending on the nature of the pigment. The pigments are outstandingly well dispersed in the carriers, and the prepn. possesses good general compatability. e.g. with alkyde lacquers, nitro lacquers, vinyl chloride and copolymers, rubber etc. The resins are also compatible with melamine and urea resins, ethyl cellulose, epoxy resins, acrylic resins and phenyl resins.
