Zusammenfassung:	Vertical heating furnace charging appts. comprises a material lift which carries a slab of material vertically upwards from the level of a roller transfer table to the level of the furnace charging inlet. The lift has a part at its top to support the piece of material. A driving device for the material lift may be a rack and pinion. A supporting cap within the furnace and guided by guiding members has a groove open downwards to be engaged with the tip of the material.
