1487256 Liquid detergent compositions HENKEL & CIE GmbH 13 Dec 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 53973/75 Heading C5D Liquid washing and cleaning compositions comprise (A) 30 to 60% by weight of a surfactant mixture of two ethoxylated aliphatic C 12 to C 20 alcohols, one having a degree of ethoxylation of 2 to 6 and the other of 8 to 20, the weight ratio of the first to the second being 1 : 3 to 1 : 1; (B) 2 to 6% by weight of a latter inhibitor which is a C 12 -C 18 alkali metal soap; (C) 0À1 to 1% by weight of a sequestrant which is an aminopolycarboxylic acid, an alkane polyphosphonic acid, an amino or hydroxy polyphosphonic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof; (D) 20 to 35% by weight of a solvent mixture miscible with water which consists of a C 5 -C 8 monoalkyl glycol ether and a C 2 -C 6 alkane diol, including an alkoxy alkane diol and a polyalkylene glycol, up to 3% by weight of the glycol ether being replaced by ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the components of the mixture having B.P. above 160‹ C. and flash points above 60‹ C. and (E) not less than 8% by weight of water. Component (B) may be produced in situ by saponification of fatty acids. The compositions may also contain dyes, perfume, preservative, brightener and opacifier.
