Zusammenfassung:1437216 Treating exhaust gases ENGELHARD MINERALS & CHEMICALS CORP 31 July 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 36478/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division B1] Carbonaceous material in I.C. engine exhausts, e.g. carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, is oxidized in contact with a catalyst comprising an active calcined composite of at least one rare earth metal oxide and alumina and, deposited thereon, after calcination, at least one platinum group metal in elemental and/or combined form. The composite may itself be supported on an inert carrier, e.g. a refractory honeycomb. The oxidation may be performed by oxygen present in the exhaust gas or by added oxygen.
