Zusammenfassung:	Lubricants (bearing and gear lubricants, transmission fluids, metal-working lubricants, etc.) contain 0.1-10 (pref. 0.5-5) wt.% of a cpd. of formula (I): R-CHX-CH2-CCl2-COOH (where X is H or Cl; R is 4-28C alkyl), or a salt or alkyl ester thereof, as extreme-pressure additive. The prefd. EP additives are Ca or Ba 2,2,4-trichlorodecanoate and Ca or Ba 2,2,4-trichlorooctanoate. The base lubricant can be a mineral oil or grease or a synthetic oil.
