Rubbish pulping and seiving machine - has rotating disc with teeth forming vortex in water containing rubbish

The pulping machine has a fixed housing, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, the vertical walls of the narrow bottom part being perforated to form a coarse seive. The floor of the container for the rubbish is flat and rotates at high speed. Near the edges of the floor are posts which exert a marked stirring effect and help to establish the vortex. They have teeth cooperating with fixed knife blades to shred large items of rubbish. The gap between the rotating floor and the fixed sidewalls is narrow and armoured with teeth, so that only small pieces of solid material can excape by this route. These is a drain channel underneath the rotating floor.
