Designed for a shuttleless jet loom, to reverse the operating components to extract a faulty weft, the motion is executed by operating a pneumatic piston against its return spring to push a rack across a crown wheel. The effect is to move the sliding toothed wheel on its shaft, disengage the free-wheel clutch, and impart a reverse drive as long as the piston is under pneumatic press. The purpose is to provide a simple and effective reverse drive motion, for as long as required, without using complex control units, electro-motors which could be over-loaded, or requiring time-consuming hand operations.
