Zusammenfassung:	1344887 Octadienes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 July 1972 [18 Aug1971] 38734/71 Heading C5E 1,6- and/or 1,7-octadienes are prepared by contacting one or more acyclic conjugated diolefins, e.g. butadiene, isoprene with Pt, Pd, Rh, RuOs or a compound thereof in a non- polar solvent, e.g. hexane, dodecane, pentadecane, benzene, toluene, xylene cyclohexane or methyl cyclohexane, in the presence of a reducing agent, e.g. gaseous H 2 , hydrazine, formaldehyde, a lower alcohol or formic acid. Suitable catalysts are the chlorides, carbonylates and complexes of Pt and Pd. Specification 1,278,806 is referred to.
