Vehicle headlamp and windscreen washing system - relief valve arrangement permits use of twin supply, two water containers

A washing system for vehicle headlamps and the windscreen, has one water container for the headlamp jets and another for the windscreen jets. Each is connected by a main tube to one side of a motor driven pump, and each main tube incorporates a branch connection to the jets. Each main tube includes a check valve between the branch and the container, and each branch line includes a relief valve. The motor switch can be operated so as to reverse its poles so that the pump is reversed, and the check valve arrangement enables the pump to be used in an appropriate direction for a chosen pair of jets to be used.
