1358628 Lubricants DIAKYO OIL CO Ltd and KYOWA YUKA CO Ltd 23 May 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 24111/72 Heading C5F A lubricant composition comprises a petroleum lubricating oil and an ester of 3-hydroxy- 2,2 - dimethylpropyl - 2,2 - dimethyl - hydracrylate (i.e. hydroxypivalyl hydroxypivalate or 3- hydroxy - 2,2 - dimethylpropyl - 3 - hydroxy- 2,2-dimethylpropionate) with one or more C 4 -C 18 saturated fatty acids. The proportion of ester is suitably 5-95 volume per cent based on the total volume. The composition may also contain 0À02-2 volume per cent of anti-oxidant, e.g. a bisphenol or a Zn dialkyldithiophosphate; 1-20 volume per cent of V.I. improver, e.g. polybutene, polymethacrylate or diethylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymer; and 0À1-10 volume per cent of dispersing agent, e.g. succinimide or overbased sulphonates or phenates. The base-stock petroleum oil may be a mixture of solvent-refined neutral oils.
