Zusammenfassung: | Homo- and copolymsn. of 2-cyanobuta-1,3-diene (I) is carried out by reacting a soln. of (I) and opt. other monomers (II) in an organic solvent (III) at -100 to +50 degrees C with an organo-alkali cpd. (IV) as initiator and opt. phosphine or amine as cocatalyst (V). The prods. are thermoplastic to elastomeric and can be used for making mouldings. It is possible to carry out block copolymsn. by prepolymsg. a soln. of an ethylenically unsatd. copolymerisable cpd. in an organic solvent at -40 to 50 degrees C and then polymerising (I) and opt. (II) onto this at -100 to 0 degrees C. (V) being unnecessary in this case. Pref. (II) is an olefinic cpd. (III) an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon or aliphatic or cyclic ether, (IV) a cpd. of formula MeIxR and (V) a cpd. of formula PR'3 or NR'3 (in which MeI is an alkali metal (Li, Na, K); x is 1 or 2; R is a hydrocarbyl gp. and R' 1-12C alkyl or 6-20C aryl). |
