Building for ventilating smelting works, partic. glass melting shops, in which a combination of a melting tank building construction with the requisite air conditions therein is brought about and comprises an enclosing structure in which a melting shop floor with inset air inlet and outlet opening is provided, the special features of the appts. being that: (a) the partly horizontal melting shop floor is rigidly connected to the enclosing structure above the top edge of the air inlet openings, partly horizontally so as to form an uninterrupted gap round the outer circumference of the melting vessel, depending on the dimensions of this, as well as vertically; (b) the air inlet openings, let into the enclosing structure and extending over the whole length of the sides of the building, are provided with rigidly installed ventilation grids and adjustable plates movable parallel to the enclosing structure for profile changing; (c) a suspended roof construction situated above the melting vessel consisting of a drip trough, adjustable plates and a ventilation grid, the plates being adjustable parallel to the flanges of the drip trough.
