Zusammenfassung:	Methods and apparatus for receiving, transferring, retaining and displaying information within a display system having inherent internal memory capabilities. Transfer and display elements including light-emitting and light-activated devices are employed in numerous configurations to provide display systems of high density with a minimum number of connections to external control circuitry with self-sustaining memory capabilities. Row-by-row, column-by-column and time sequential addressing of both rows and columns of display elements are disclosed.
