Zusammenfassung:1329545 Separation of radio-isotopes UNION CARBIDE CORP 8 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 915/71 Heading G6R Radio-active iodine-131 of high purity and stability is prepared by irradiating a telluriumcontaining material with neutrons, dry distilling I-131 from said material on to alumina, and selectively eluting the I-131 from the alumina with a base. The tellurium material may be the metal, monoxide, dioxide, nitrate, or sulphide. After irradiation, distillation may be carried out under vacuum at 450-800‹ C., the I-131 being adsorbed on an alumina column from which it is eluted with a solution of sodium, potassium or ammonium hydroxide, or sodium carbonate. The solution containing the iodine as iodide may be sterilized and used in medical research and diagnosis.
