1324912 Laminating rubber with other materials METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 19 Aug 1971 [22 Aug 1970] 39082/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Bonds between rubber and other materials are formed by adhesives comprising (1) a halogenated polymer, (2) an organic oxime compound (3) an inorganic hexavalent chromium compound, (4) an inorganic acid and (5) an organic solvent. In examples these components are as follows: (1) a mixture of (a) brominated poly- (2,3-dichlorobutadiene) with (b) chlorinated rubber, chlorinated PVC or chlorinated polypropylene; (2) p-quinone dioxime; (3) potassium dichromate, sodium dichromate, zinc chromate or barium chromate; (4) H 3 PO 4 , H 2 SO 4 , HCl or hexafluorosilicic acid; and (5) a mixture of xylene and perchloroethylene. Some adhesives also contain carbon black, zinc powder or a PF resin. In Examples 1-4, these adhesives are used to bond a layer of natural rubber between two metallic or non-metallic discs, the metals being iron, stainless steel, brass or aluminium, and the non-metals polyamide or wood. In Examples 5-10, iron is bonded to the following rubbers: nitrile rubber, SBR, neoprene, butyl rubber, EPDM, and a mixture of natural rubber and cis-1,4-polybutadiene.
