The central processing unit consists of a main store and working stores, an instruction control unit, an arithmetic and a logic unit, a number of error check circuits and a monitoring device. The contents of all important registers are selectively displayed. A control device activates the monitor and the connecting paths between the important registers and the display elements for the representation of the contents of the registers, in the event of an error in the system. The central processing unit comprises the main store which is addressed via the storage address register and the read data are transmitted to a storage data register.
