Zusammenfassung: | 1339919 Separating particles from gases BAYER AG 12 Jan 1971 [4 Feb 1970] 4388/71 Heading B1R Particles, e.g. metal oxides, are separated from hot gas streams in which the oxide is suspended by passage downward through pipe 1 into conical section 9. Cold gas supplied through pipe 4 passes through porous-walled tube 5 into the hot stream, thereby cooling it. The gas stream is further cooled by contact with cold aqueous liquid which enters by tangential pipe 7 and passes downwards as a rotating film over the surface of conical section 9. The liquid/solids/gas mixture then passes to pipe 11 where it meets a spray of liquid introduced downwardly by non-radially positioned nozzles 12. All the oxides in the gas stream are removed in suspension in the wash liquid leaving the apparatus, some of the suspension being returned to pipe 7 and nozzles 12. The apparatus is of particular application to the TiO 2 -containing stream from a reactor in which TiCl 4 is reacted with an oxygen-containing gas. |
