Zusammenfassung: | 1286593 Grinding; drills OMARK-WINSLOW AEROSPACE TOOL CO 29 Jan 1970 [4 Feb 1969] 4396/70 Headings B3C and B3D Apparatus for supporting, e.g. a drilling or reaming bit for grinding comprises a base 38, a cross-slide 44 transversely movable on the base 38, a workpiece-bearing slide 40 movable across the slide 44, and means 42 for selectively moving the cross-slide 44 while maintaining the workpiece slide 40 fixed relative thereto, moving the workpiece slide 40 on the cross-slide 44, with the latter fixed relative to the base 38, or moving both slides simultaneously. The workpiece W is supported on a spindle 20, rotatable in a housing 18 supported on the slide 40, by means of a hand wheel 22 or belt drive 24. A cam 32 is fixed to the spindle 20, and acts against a roller 76 bearing on a second roller 96. The roller 76 is rotatable on a lever 71, pivoted at 72 to an extension of the housing 18, and a movement of the roller 76 against the cam 32 pivots the lever 71 about an adjustable fulcrum 80 acting on a fixed abutment rail 82, resulting in transverse unitary movement of the slides 40, 44 on tracks of the base 38 against a return spring 58. For movement of the slide 40 on tracks 62 of the cross-slide 44, movement of the roller 96 is transmitted through a lever 88, 94, pivoted on a fixed post 92, to a member 98 adjustable along one arm 88 of the lever, which member 98 acts directly on the slide 40 to move it axially against a return spring 70. Adjustment of the fulcrum to a position adjacent the pivot 72 inactivates transverse movement of the slides 40, 44, while positioning of the member 98 adjacent the post 92 inactivates axial slide 40 movement, suitable relative adjustments allowing any required composite movement. An exemplary stepped diameter drill bit, Fig. la, includes a portion 1 of reduced diameter. |
