Zusammenfassung:	2-methylene propane prepn. Title cpd. is prepd. by reacting isobutene, oxygen and acetic acid in the vapour phase at 50-250 degrees C over a Pd-contg. catalyst, partially or completely removing components boiling at >150 degrees C at normal pressure, and returning part or all components boiling at 150 degrees C at normal pressure, to the reaction. The reaction can be conducted in tubular reactors 4-8m long with internal diameters of 20-50mm. The product is useful for the production of 1,3-dihydroxy-2-methylene propane by hydrolysis.
